Summer Is a Comin' in me hearties!

May 11, 2019

May day is over and the summer is officially on its way!

The pirate season has kicked off to a fantastic start with the epic Brixham Pirate Festival and now we know you're all primed and ready to go so get out there and book your holidays, buy your kit and work out what Pirate events to attend next!

Apologies to anyone looking for us at Brixham but some logistical issues meant that we couldn't get there so hopefully we will all catch up with you at the next event!

Make sure you keep an eye on the BOB Pirates Facebook group event page for get-togethers, gatherings, gigs and photoshoots!

We have a number of gigs coming up and there are more to follow! We also have a range of paid or smaller gigs which are restricted in numbers but if you're interested in helping out or joining in then get in touch as we can then make sure that we invite you to things personally.

The next event on the calendar for us is the superb Swanage/Purbeck Pirate Festival, that we have been unable to get to until now so we are looking forward to supporting them at the end of May Bank holiday, down on Sandput Field, Swanage for a weekend of Piratical fun and mayhem.

You can check out Purbeck Pirate Festival here (

BOB has now updated their website to include the THREE!!! wonderful Pirate bands that we have for you this year and some of our traders - we are waiting for pictures and confirmations from some traders so the list on the website isn't complete but it will be updated as we get the pics we need!

We also need to start booking camping places in so please send me a message or use the contact details at the end to book tickets.

Every year we hope to get better and I can honestly say that with our entertainers this year, we have really struck PIRATE GOLD! We know the venue (and so do most of you) and we know that we are looking at a fantastic event happening!

Now is the time to book your tickets - it's a shame we have to charge at all but we feel that our prices are very reasonable and our entry fees have stayed the same as last year - as have our trader pitches - which enables us to pay for the venue and insurances/skips/toilets etc.

As we have described in earlier posts - we are not here to make profits, but to put on a great event and hopefully raise some money for charity too, once the event has covered it's costs.

Tickets prices this year are as follows:

Weekend Camping £25 (that includes a tent or camper van or caravan, plus any awnings or cars you have) We also don't charge any extra for children's tents with accompanying adults.

That covers you for Friday, Saturday and Sunday night and includes the Friday Night Pirate Party!

The venue is open for arrivals anytime Friday but earlier arrivals (from the Wednesday are allowed for helpers and reenactors setting up) and you can leave anytime Monday.

Adult day ticket £6

Adult weekend ticket £11

Child day ticket £3

Child weekend ticket £5

Child 5 or under FREE!

Family day ticket £18 (3 children and 2 adults)

Family weekend ticket £35 (3 children and 2 adults)

Traders are £50 for a stall and that includes camping/parking etc

Dogs are welcome, as are raised BBQs and raised firepits and we have special disabled parking for those that need it if they contact me directly!

Please consider buying your tickets in advance as this really helps us out paying for essential festival services for you in advance!

This year we have:

Captain Jax Parrow! Jack Sparrow impersonator extraordinaire!

King George III and his retinue!

The Black Preacher and The Lady of the Manor!

Cutthroat Bill and his Parrots!

OVER 30 local and national pirate and craft traders

Food from:

Anything but the wooden spoon (meals in an edible, bread bowl)

Welsh Burger van

CAFE 83 serving lite bites, biscuits, cakes, coffee and teas

Ice Cream van

And introducing, our very own PIRATE BAR!

The Crimson moon has scaled down drastically on their offline events so we have been lucky enough to secure support from one of our pirate brethren, to supply our own bar.

We introduce you all to "The Turtle's Head Tavern" (I had no say in the naming of it lol)

We will be serving real all from the cask, real cider, mead supplied by Granny Jan's Jams in several WONDERFUL flavours, spirits, cocktails, soft drinks etc at very reasonable prices and every drink you purchase will benefit the event directly!

If anyone would like to help us out or get involved in some way then please get in touch at the details below, likewise if you have any ideas for fundraising for the event!

In the mean time though, a few paying campers will go a huge way to paying our event bills for the weekend...bear in mind that many people are helping out the event and therefore don't have to pay, of course, so a few extra guests here and there really, really make all the difference to us so share the poster, share the event, tell your friends about it and keep being the wonderful pirates that you all are!
